Summary of the ICIPC* Final Report

The 19^th session of the Information Committee of the Industrial Property Council was held on 18 June 1997 and the final report was approved.

An outline of the report is as follows:
In order to accelerate research and development activities in Japan in the upcoming century, it is essential to assure full exploitation of industrial property information.

To this end, it is crucial to establish an environment which will offer our users rapid and easy access to the industrial property information at the lowest possible price, making effective use of the recent rapid development in computer and telecommunication technologies.

From this point of view, the industrial property information should be made available to the public through the following methods.

1. Dissemination of the industrial property information through the Internet

2. Modification of terms and conditions for the industrial property information services

3. Promotion of overseas cooperation in the field of industrial property information
