The Development of JPO’s Vision
The JPO recognizes the many internal and external changes in the intellectual property environment. It believes in the importance of the intellectual property system as a global infrastructure that can flexibly respond to such environmental changes. And it is the JPO that is expected to serve as an organization capable of bringing about such a system that accommodates continual changes.
In an era of changes, the JPO gave serious consideration to the matter of what its mission should be as well as to which values should be endorsed in the process toward achieving that mission. In addition, after reflecting on what kind of organization it should aim to be, and what the ideals regarding its staff are, the JPO put together a “JPO’s Vision”.
To meet the needs of the times, active discussions are being held on an international scale toward the building of a global intellectual property system. The JPO is also taking an active part in those discussions.
On such occasions, the JPO abides by its vision, particularly acknowledging the fact that the intellectual property system is there to provide the intellectual property users with superior services, in other words, that it is user-oriented.
With a focus on such vision, the JPO strives to further improve the quality of its user-oriented services.
