MyIPO Delegation’s Visit to JPO

December 15, 2014

Delegation of the Malaysian Intellectual Property Office (MyIPO) including Chairman Mr. Ismail and Director General Mrs. Shamsiah visited the Japan Patent Office (JPO) on December 9. In the bilateral meeting with the delegation, both sides confirmed the importance of developing mutual understanding of examination practices, in order to ensure smooth implementation of the PPH pilot program between Japan and Malaysia launched in October this year. In addition, the JPO explained its plans to send patent examiners to the MyIPO at the beginning of 2015, in response to MyIPO’s request. There was also an exchange of opinions on the automated formality examination MyIPO is working on. The JPO intends to continue to strengthen cooperation with Malaysia.
