JPO Commissioner Visited the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to Exchange Opinions

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) conducted a meeting with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in Alexandria, U.S.A., on January 8, 2015. Mr. Ito, Commissioner of the JPO, attended the meeting to exchange opinions on how to advance discussions in the future for patent system harmonization and legal revisions.

Also, using this opportunity, Commissioner Ito also had meetings with Ms. Teresa Rea, former Acting Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Acting Director of the USPTO, the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA),* IBM Corporation, and Canon U.S.A., Inc. At the meetings, he introduced the JPO’s major initiatives and exchanged views on patent system harmonization and other significant issues.
