February 10, 2014

From February 2nd to 6th, both the 22th Meeting of International Authorities under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT/MIA) and the 5th Quality Subgroup Meeting were held at the Japan Patent Office (JPO), in which the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and twenty intellectual property offices around the world attended. It was the first time for Japan to hold these Meetings.
The JPO chaired the Meetings, leading discussions about supporting global business strategies of companies. The discussions focused on ideas for improving the PCT international application system that would enable patent rights to be granted more promptly worldwide.
