On February 13, 2015, the government of Japan deposited its instrument of accession to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs with the Director General of the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland. The Act will come into effect for Japan on May 13, 2015, three months after the deposit. Also, following this, Mr. Kihara, Deputy Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) exchanged opinions with Dr. Francis Gurry, Director General of the WIPO on further strengthening the cooperative relationship between Japan and the WIPO.
On the same day, the United States also deposited its instrument of ratification to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement. Thanks to the kind suggestion of Director General Francis Gurry, the ceremony was hosted by the WIPO to commemorate the simultaneous deposit by Japan and the U.S.
