AIPPI World Congress 2015 was Held in Brazil

AIPPI* World Congress 2015 was held from October 10 to 14 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and approximately 1600 IP practitioners from 80 countries gathered together, discussing various topics related to intellectual property.

Mr. Kunihiko Shimano, Director-General of the Trial and Appeal Department of the JPO, joined a panel discussion titled “Continuous Improvement of IP Systems” as one of the keynote panelists, introducing the JPO’s continuous efforts to improve not only the Japanese IP system but also the world’s IP system for the sake of both national and international users. Director-General Shimano also actively exchanged his views and opinions with the co-panelists, Dr. Luiz Otávio Pimentel, President of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) of Brazil, and Mr. Niclas Morey, Director of the International Organisations, Trilateral and IP5, European Patent Office (EPO), as well as IP practitioners attending the panel discussion.

In addition, the JPO personnel joined the panel session with the topic of the employee invention system in various countries, and was actively involved in discussions with IP practitioners.

The JPO will continue to cooperate for international exchange among IP practitioners.
