JPO Conducted IPR Training Course of Trademarks for Indonesia

February 2, 2016

Under the aim of strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights (IPRs), the Japan Patent Office (JPO) has been inviting trainees from developing and emerging countries of the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, and Africa, and conducting training programs for them in Japan.

The Training Course of Trademarks for Indonesia, conducted from January 27 to February 2, is a brand new curriculum specifically designed for trademark examiners of Indonesia. Five trainees in the Course studied trademark practices and examination standards through the trademark system of Japan, as well as learned similarities and differences of examination system between two countries through exchanging opinions with JPO’s trademark examiners and OJT.

Trainees were not only able to gain knowledge and to improve their capabilities that are necessary to perform as trademark examiners, but also given a chance to get acquainted and deepen the relationships with people working in the field of intellectual property in Japan. The JPO has high expectations that the trainees will play important and active roles in their countries.
