Meeting Held between METI Minister Hayashi and WIPO DG Gurry

Dr. Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), visited Japan, and on February 17, 2016, had a meeting with Mr. Motoo Hayashi, Minister of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) at the METI. During their meeting, Dr. Gurry acknowledged Japan’s contribution to WIPO, emphasizing the importance of Japan as the second largest PCT application filer in the world. They reconfirmed their commitment to further strengthen the cooperative relationship between Japan and WIPO in further developing the international intellectual property system.

In addition, Dr. Gurry had a meeting with Mr. Ito, Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) at the JPO.
