US-Japan Patent Symposium Held in Washington, D. C.

May 20, 2016

On May 13, 2016, the United States/Japan Patent Symposium was held in Washington, D. C., hosted by the Giles S. Rich American Inn of Court that aims to promote the exchange of opinions among legal professionals including judges and lawyers in the U.S. in the area of intellectual property. Mr. Akira Tanji, Executive Chief Administrative Judge of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) and Mr. Yukio Ono, Director of the Trial and Appeal Policy Planning Office of the JPO joined the symposium. It was a great opportunity for all of the participants to deepen their mutual understanding of Intellectual Property (IP) litigation and trial/appeal examinations in Japan and the U.S.

The JPO will continue to be actively sharing information and promoting mutual understanding with other IP offices regarding IP litigation and trial/appeal examinations.
