Director General of DGIP of Indonesia Visited JPO

June 8, 2016

The JPO welcomed Prof. Dr. Ahmad Mujahid Ramli, Director General of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) of Indonesia and his colleagues to a seminar* on trademarks from June 2 to 8.

At the seminar, the JPO shared its experiences and initiatives regarding protection of non-traditional trademarks, examinations and procedures of international applications under the Madrid Protocol, and the appeal and trial system for trademarks in Japan. Furthermore, there was an opportunity for both offices to exchange opinions on the above subjects with each other.

On June 3, JPO Commissioner Ito had a meeting with DGIP Director General Ramli, and exchanged opinions regarding the future direction of PPH between two offices.

The JPO will continue to strengthen its IP-related cooperation with the DGIP of Indonesia.

* This seminar was conducted as part of “Project on Intellectual Property Rights Protection and Legal Consistency for Improving Business Environment” under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) (JPO has been also working together).
