JPO Conducted IPR Training Course for IP Trainers

June 29, 2016

Under the aim of strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights (IPRs), the Japan Patent Office (JPO) has been inviting trainees from developing and emerging countries of the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, and Africa, and conducting training programs for them in Japan.

From June 15 to 29, the JPO conducted the IPR Training Course for IP Trainers, designed for individuals working at universities or research institutes and involved with dissemination and raising awareness of the intellectual property rights system. The objective of the Couse is to help trainees deepen their comprehensive understanding of the knowledge and skills especially for the IP education, as well as enhancing their expertise and capabilities.

Twenty-six trainees who attended the Course participated in open discussions with lecturers and peer trainees, conducted case studies and visited a school to see how IPR education had been actually provided, in addition to hearing lectures. The JPO has high expectations that the trainees will play important and active roles in their countries.
