From July 12 to July 21, the JPO conducted the IPR Training Course on Patent Examination (Basic Program), mainly targeting at patent examiners. The objective of the Course is to deepen the trainees’ understanding of laws and regulations related to the Patent Act, and to increase basic knowledge of the Examination Guidelines and examination practices. In addition, the Course aims to enhance their professional capabilities on substantive examination through case studies and others.

Nine trainees who attended the Course were able to gain special knowledge through one-week program, and also given a chance to deepen their friendship among the trainees as well as people working in the field of intellectual property in Japan. The JPO has high expectations that the trainees will play important and active roles in their countries.
