IP Week 2016 in Singapore

An annual intellectual property conference, called IP Week, was held in Singapore from August 22nd to 24th, hosted by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore.

JPO Commissioner Komiya joined the global symposium with a theme of “Powering Innovation Cycle” on 23rd, introducing JPO’s initiatives and discussing the roles of intellectual property offices to promote innovation with H.E. Dr. CHAM Prasidh, Cambodia Senior Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft, Dr. Francis GURRY, Director General of the WIPO, Mr. LIM Chuan Poh, Chairman of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research in Singapore, Mr. Jesper KONGSTAD, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Danish Patent and Trademark Office, and Mr. David J. KAPPOS, Partner of the Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, who was a former commissioner of the USPTO.

On 24th, the JPO and the JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) co-hosted a special session attended by corporations and law firms, delivering speeches and holding a panel discussion with a theme of “Global Initiatives of the JPO and IP Strategies of Companies.”

The JPO will continue to deepen its involvement in international exchange in the field of intellectual property as well as promoting international cooperation with overseas intellectual property offices.
