From September 8 to 15, the JPO conducted the IPR Training Course on Establishing Patent Examination Guidelines, mainly targeting at practitioners who are involved with formulating and revising patent examination guidelines and examination manuals. This Course aims to provide basic knowledge and policies necessary to formulate and revise patent examination guidelines and manuals, in order to support the ASEAN countries with establishing examination guidelines and examination manuals.

A total of 16 trainees attended this Course, through which they learned on the Patent Examination Guidelines and examination practices in Japan, as well as having opportunities to discuss a wide range of topics regarding the issues to be considered and how to formulate the logic at the time of setting up and revising examination guidelines.
