JPO Conducted Training Course
on Patent Examination Practices for Thailand

February 23, 2017

In order to support developing countries with the development of human resources who engage in the industrial property rights system, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) has been inviting trainees from developing and emerging countries of the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, Africa, and other regions, to participate in training programs for them in Japan.

From February 17 to 23, the JPO conducted the "Training Course on Patent Examination Practices for Thailand" for patent examiners who were newly employed in the Department of Intellectual Property of Thailand last October, in order to improve the patent examination in Thailand.

The JPO conducted this training course as a follow-up to the training course for new patent examiners (*) that had been provided in Thailand with patent examiners sent from the JPO. In this training course, the trainees deepened their knowledge on the subject of "user-friendly patent examination" through lectures on examination methods utilizing the JPO's examination results and case studies on examination practices.

The JPO has high expectations that the trainees will be active in the field after returning to their country.
