The 14th Japan-Korea Trademark Expert Meeting and the 3rd Japan-Korea Trademark Examiner Exchange were held

The 14th Japan–Korea Trademark Expert Meeting and the 3rd Japan-Korea Trademark Examiner Exchange were held in the Japan Patent Office (JPO) from March 27 to 29. Mr. Miki, Director-General of the Trademark and Customer Relations Department (Opening Remarks), Mr. Sato, Director of the Trademark Division from JPO and Mr. PARK, Senior Director of the Trademark Examination Policy Division from the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and their colleagues were participated in the Meetings.

At the Meetings, both Offices exchanged information and views of the latest trends concerning trademarks of Japan and Korea, and the concerns, such as the system and practice of trademark examination and quality management in both Offices.

In addition, both Offices exchanged “The Lists of Regional Collective Trademarks and Geographical Indications” for the first time since an agreement in order to expand the intended listing at the 28th Heads Meeting between the JPO and the KIPO (held on December 2016), and both Offices confirmed to use practically as a reference material of trademark examinations.

Furthermore, both Offices discussed further cooperative relationship for both Offices and agreed to engage in an exchange of views in the field of trademarks continuously.
