JPO Conducted Training Course for IP Trainers

Under the aim of strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights in order to support developing countries with the development of human resources who engage in the industrial property rights system, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) has been inviting trainees from developing and emerging countries of the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, and Africa, and conducting training programs for them in Japan.

From June 13 to 27, the JPO conducted the Training Course for IP Trainers, designed for government officials and individuals working at universities or research institutes involved with education of the intellectual property rights system and public awareness. The objective of the Course is to help trainees deepen their comprehensive understanding of the necessary knowledge and skills especially for the IP education with learning such as Japanese system, experiences.

Twenty-five trainees who attended the Course participated in open discussions with lecturers and peer trainees, conducted case studies. In addition, they visited a school to see how IP education had been actually provided. The JPO has high expectations that the trainees will play further important and active roles in their countries.
