JPO Conducted Training Course on Trademark Examination Practices (Basic Program)

February 20, 2018

Under the aim of strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights in order to support developing countries with the development of human resources who engage in the industrial property rights system, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) has been inviting trainees from developing and emerging countries of the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, and Africa, and conducting training programs for them in Japan.

From February 2 to 16, the JPO conducted the Training Course on Trademark Examination Practices (Basic Program), and 15 trainees who are mainly trademark examiners from 8 countries attended the course. In this training course, the trainees were able to enhance their skills as trademark examiners through lectures on laws and regulations regarding trademark rights, examination guidelines, and examination practices.

The JPO has high expectations that the trainees will play important and active roles in their countries.
