25th Heads' Meeting between JPO and CNIPA

The Heads’ Meeting was held between the Japan Patent Office (JPO) and the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) on November 1 in Kyoto, Japan.

JPO Commissioner Ms. Naoko Munakata and CNIPA Commissioner Mr. Shen Changyu discussed future cooperation between the two offices in relation to patent, design and trademark examinations, information technology, trials and appeals, and human resource development. In particular, with trademarks now added to the CNIPA’s mandate, they agreed to push forward with trademark cooperation. They also agreed to extend the duration of the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot program.
