| The JPO Takes Part in the EXPO 2005 in Aichi, Japan! - - - "Intellectual Property Cultivates Dreams for the Future" Exhibition - - - |

| The EXPO 2005 Aichi, the first World Exhibition in the 21 century, opened on March 25, 2005. The JPO will hold an exhibition under the theme of "Intellectual Property Cultivates Dreams for the Future" Exhibition for 11 days from March 12 (Thursday) to March 22(Sunday) at the Morizo and Kiccoro Exhibition Center. In the exhibition space, two zones of "IP Forest" and "Robot Lab" will be set up to introduce surrounding intellectual property (IP) and look toward future IP-based society respectively. We sincerely hope that this exhibition by the JPO will help children and people of all generations feel closer to intellectual property and deepen their understanding of the importance of culture in which people can feel the joy of creation and pay due attention to intellectual property. |

1.Purposes The EXPO 2005 Aichi, the first world exhibition in the 21st century, opened on March 25, 2005 in Aichi Prefecture for the first time in the past 35 years in Japan from EXPO 1970 in Osaka. The theme of EXPO 2005 is "Nature's Wisdom." The EXPO provides more than 120 participating countries and international organizations as well as people from various parts of the world with an opportunity to learn about the efficient mechanism of nature and power of life with their experience, knowledge, and wisdom towards the creation of new global culture. The EXPO 2005 has been drawing attention both nationally and internationally. In this exposition, the JPO will hold an exhibition with the aim of disseminating the importance of intellectual property to the public and of widely sending out a message that Japan is a nation to place importance on intellectual property. 2.Exhibition theme "Intellectual Property Cultivates Dreams for the Future" Exhibition 3.Date May 12, 2005 (Thursday) to May 22, 2005 (Sunday) 4.Venue Morizo and Kiccoro Exhibition Center (approx. 1,000m2) (Note: This Exhibition Center is one of the EXPO 2005 pavilions in which various time-limited programs will be held one after another.) | ||

| (1) | Zone 1: "IP Forest" to introduce surrounding intellectual property | |
| Zone 1 will concentrate on intellectual property that supports various aspects of life behind the scenes. Specifically, we will introduce different types of intellectual property used for various products actually showing some of such products and also using a video to help visitors rediscover the benefits brought about by intellectual property in modern society. - IP Time Tunnel - To help disseminate the development of intellectual property in Japan, the history of intellectual property systems as well as the progress of IP-related products evolved with the times will be introduced by exhibiting such products and panel photos. |

| (2) | Zone 2: "Robot Lab" to forecast the future the way to which will be opened by intellectual property | |
| Robots of latest designs as well as those currently going under R&D will be exhibited. Fruits of IP-related devices developed for those robots will also be introduced using a video. In addition to the robot attraction, various interactive programs such as a talk show, robot contest, and experimental classroom will be held to give dreams for the future to EXPO visitors. | ||
