The State-of-the-art Searches for Developing Countries
under the Agreement between the WIPO and the JPO

The State-of-the-art Searches for Developing Countries is one of the patent information services that has been performed by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) since 1975. Users of this service are able to grasp the most up-to-date technological trends through the prior-art documents retrieved by the State-of-the-art Searches, and also use this information to select research projects and to avoid duplication of R&D. Since1984, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) has been cooperating with the WIPO in providing this service from the standpoint of international contributions.

Through WIPO, the JPO provides free-of-charge to institutions and individuals in developing countries, upon request for State-of-the-art Search Reports.

Institutions or individuals in developing countries can submit requests for State-of-the-art Searches to WIPO. Requests made by private institutions or individuals require the endorsement of a government authority.
