Report on the “JICA Counterpart Training Course for Indonesian”

During five days from Tuesday, September 9 to Friday, September 13, 2013, we provided a training program for our Indonesian colleagues entitled "Training in the Making of Human Resources Development Plans."

We invited 12 trainees who are in charge of human resources development at the Indonesian Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights. The training course was designed to deepen trainees’ understanding of the human resources development training given to JPO personnel.

First, the National Center for Industrial Property Information and Training (INPIT), which takes part in the human resources development training of JPO personnel, explained how, when, and where JPO personnel are trained. The trainees were then divided into three groups which focused on the patent, design, and trademark systems respectively. Each group received a lecture on the training programs offered to examiners and the methods used to evaluate examiners, etc. While Indonesia currently does not have any trial system for designs and trademarks, the Indonesian trainees who learned about the roles of trial examiners through this program seemed determined to establish a trial system in Indonesia in the future.

The trainees also visited organizations to which the JPO outsources its classification assignment and search functions.
