JPO Conducted JPO/IPR Training Course on Substantive Examination of Trademarks

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) conducted “JPO/IPR Training Course on Substantive Examination of Trademarks” from November 21 to December 3, 2019. A total of 18 trainees from 11 countries were invited to participate in this training course intended for officials engaged in examination of trademarks at IP Offices in various countries.

There were lectures on examination standards for trademarks including non-traditional trademarks such as color per se marks and sound marks and on quality management of trademark examinations. And the trainees deepened their understanding of trademark examination practices through conducting case studies using actual examples of filed applications, etc.
