Director-General Spoke at the "16th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum"

On October 21, Director-General Iwasaki of the Patent Examination Department (Chemistry, Life Science and Material Science) of the Japan Patent Office (JPO), attended the 16th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum. WIPO Director General Gurry, WIPO Deputy Director General Wang, Commissioner of China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) Shen, Deputy Commissioner of CNIPA Gan, and Mayor of Shanghai Municipal People's Government Ying also participated the forum.

During the Forum, presenters from IP Offices, universities and private sectors delivered speeches on the theme of "Enhancing International Cooperation in IP Protection and Building a World-class Business Environment." The audience of the Forum consisted of IP users from China as well as many other countries.

In his speech "Enhancing People's Lifestyles through Innovations Based on Emerging Technologies," Mr. Iwasaki stated that the role of IP Offices in the Fourth Industrial Revolution is to globally promote innovation based on advanced technologies. He also introduced the JPO initiatives that address the issue.
