Deputy Commissioner Spoke at the Virtual IP Summit

On July 29, 2020, Mr. Iwasaki, Deputy Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO), delivered a keynote speech at the Virtual Intellectual Property Summit hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The event was held online with Controller General GUPTA of the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM) of India attending.

In his speech, JPO Deputy Commissioner Iwasaki highlighted the importance of intellectual property (IP) that can contribute to the acceleration of innovation even in the face of COVID-19 pandemic. He also expressed his thought to support innovation in businesses of both countries by strengthening cooperation between Japan and India in the field of IP, such as the PPH pilot program.

The JPO will continue to develop the cooperative relationship with India and improve an IP environment in which IP rights can be promptly and smoothly obtained and properly protected.
