JPO Commissioner Gave a Speech at the 2020 AIPPI World Congress

On October 13, 2020, the Special Session of the 2020 AIPPI World Congress hosted by the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI*) was held online.
The heads of the intellectual property (IP) offices from Japan, United States, Europe and China and Mr. Tang, new Director General of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) gave speeches on the future prospects towards the New Normal.

At the speech, Mr. Kasutani Toshihide, Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO), reported JPO’s management and relief measures under COVID-19.
To disseminate JPO’s initiatives at the international IP event and obtain an understanding from IP users, he also introduced JPO's various initiatives, for examples, measures to promote and utilize innovation in order to support startups, measures to deal with new technologies such as release of examination cases of AI/IoT-related inventions, and international cooperation to improve predictability of examinations for users.
