JPO had a meeting with JPO/US-Bar Liaison Council

November 17, 2020

On November 13, 2020, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) held a videoconference with the JPO/ US-Bar Liaison Council*.

Mr. Iwasaki, Deputy Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO), gave the opening remarks and the JPO introduced examination case examples of AI and 3D printing technology in Japan. We also exchanged opinions regarding the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH), the recent status and future prospects of patent subject matter eligibility in the United States, and the impact of COVID-19 on U.S. attorneys.

We communicated Japan's efforts to U.S. practitioners to promote appropriate understanding of Japan's initiatives and broadened our understanding of recent and future developments and prospects for intellectual property in the United States.
