JPO participated in INTA Annual Meeting

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) participated in the International Trademark Association (INTA)* Annual Meeting, held in Barcelona, Spain from May 20 to 24. This Meeting is one of the largest events bringing together under one roof IP-related persons from countries around the world.

Mr. Miki, Director-General of the Trademark and Customer Relations Department participated in the Meeting and had a meeting with Ms. Tish, the next INTA President regarding further cooperation between the JPO and INTA. In the meeting, the JPO and INTA agreed to continue to cooperate in such as holding the “Joint Work Shop” in the next INTA Annual Meeting (Seattle, USA) with further cooperation.

Following on from last year, the JPO also installed a “JPO booth” and promoted the Japanese trademark system and the JPO’s measures through such as displaying panels and showing videos regarding non-traditional trademarks and regional collective trademarks with the cooperation of Japan Patent Attorneys Association, Japan Trademark Association and Japan Intellectual Property Association. The “JPO booth” was visited by more than 800 users, the largest number ever, throughout the entire period of exhibition.

* International Trademark Association (INTA): Association made up of more than 6,700 members from government bodies, educational institutions, and companies, etc. in 190 countries.
