JPO Conducted Training Course
on Practitioners Specializing in Trademarks

November 18, 2017

Under the aim of strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights in order to support developing countries with the development of human resources who engage in the industrial property rights system, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) has been inviting trainees from developing and emerging countries of the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, and Africa, and conducting training programs for them in Japan.

From December 4 to 15, the JPO conducted the Training Course on Practitioners Specializing in Trademarks and a total of 27 lawyers specialized in intellectual property and trademark attorneys from 9 countries attended the course. In this course, the trainees deepened their knowledge on the subject of trademark practices through lectures pertaining to examination guidelines and application practices, etc., in order to enhance their expertise as professionals in the field of intellectual property.

The JPO has high expectations that the trainees will play important and active roles in their countries.
