Mock International Arbitration - Toward Early Dispute Resolution of Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) in the 5G Era - Held in Tokyo

On June 29, 2018, the "Mock International Arbitration - Toward Early Dispute Resolution of Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) in the 5G Era –" was held by the Japan Patent Office at the Yasuda Auditorium, the University of Tokyo in Japan.

Former Chief Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Randall R. Rader, as well as other leading experts in intellectual property dispute resolution from around the world, was invited as an arbitrator to this mock international arbitration under the assumption of the Fifth-Generation Mobile Communications System (5G) era.  Detailed process was shown for resolving a dispute over SEPs through international arbitration.

Approximately 650 people attended the mock international arbitration attesting to the people’s high interest in international arbitration.

Furthermore, at this mock international arbitration, speech recognition technology was used to create real-time captions for speeches while live streaming service was available.
