AIPPI World Congress 2018 was Held in Mexico

AIPPI* World Congress 2018 was held from September 23 to 26 in Cancun, Mexico. IP experts and practitioners from 80 countries discussed various topics related to intellectual property at the congress.

Mr. Susumu Iwasaki, Director-General of the Patent Examination Department (Chemistry, Life Science and Material Science) of the Japan Patent Office (JPO), joined a panel discussion titled “IP5 Cooperation” as one of the keynote panelists. He introduced the successful achievements of the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) programs on behalf of the IP5 offices. Mr. Iwasaki also actively exchanged his views and opinions with the panelists from other IP5 offices, as well as IP experts and practitioners, on future cooperative activities to be conducted under the IP5 framework.

In addition, taking this opportunity, Mr. Iwasaki visited the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) and held a meeting with Ms. Nahanny Marisol Canal Reyes, Director of the Patent Department at the IMPI. During the meeting, they exchanged views on the cooperative initiatives between the two Offices.
