Fur | The body hair of non-human mammals, also known as the pelage. |
Hide | Body covering or skin of an animal. |
Leather | Animal hide or skin, which has been tanned. Tanning is a chemical treatment that makes hides and skins durable by preventing decomposition. |
Pasting process | An industrial process for stretching and drying wet skins which have been glued (pasted) on a plane surface. |
Pelt | The skin of an animal with hair, fur, or wool still attached. |
Special leather | Leathers fitted together in some way by assemblying pieces. |
Technical leather | A leather that withstands tough wear and tear and is used, for instance, in the automotive and aviation industries (e.g. belts). |
