Overview

Generative AI technology has developed rapidly in recent years, attracting social attention for its use in the field of technological creation. In various countries around the world, discussions have intensified regarding the treatment of AI-generated works under intellectual property (IP) systems, as well as the attribution of rights. Some countries have begun to implement institutional and operational measures in this regard, such as publishing guidelines and revising examination standards.

New legal issues are also emerging along with the social advancement of digital transformation (DX), in addition to those concerning generative AI.
Considering the arrival of this new AI- and DX-focused era, this symposium will introduce the latest responses and considerations regarding legal issues with respect to the IP systems in Japan, China, and South Korea. In addition, the symposium will cover presently-existing challenges related to the intellectual property system from a practical perspective, including proposed responses.
