The JPO Conducted Design Training for the IP Office of the Philippines

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) conducted an online training course on design for members of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) for two days, June 15 and 16, 2021.

Two design examiners from the JPO, who are highly experienced in design examination, conducted the training course for design personnel at the IPOPHL.

During the training course, the trainers shared the JPO’s knowledge on judgments made in regard to the similarity of designs and prior art searches, etc., in order to further support the IPOPHL in terms of improving the quality of examinations on designs, as well as on trials.

The JPO will continue to support and cooperate in training programs at the Philippines and other emerging countries with the aim of improving and strengthening the practices and operating procedures in the area of examination in those countries.
