On June 18, 2021 (Friday), the Japan Patent Office (JPO) held the "International Symposium on Intellectual Property - Initiatives to Solve Environmental Issues through WIPO GREEN" in the form of an online conference.
This symposium was held for the first time ever this year with the aim of contributing to solving environmental issues through the effective use of intellectual property, with live streaming in four languages (Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean).
After the opening remarks by Mr. Kasutani, Commissioner of the JPO, the keynote speakers gave a speech on initiatives for WIPO GREEN by Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA) and the use of innovation to address environmental challenges. In the panel discussion, under the theme of "Challenges and Future Development of WIPO GREEN," the panelists discussed the initiatives, current status, challenges, and future development of WIPO GREEN from various perspectives based on their concrete and practical experiences.
The JPO will continue to strive to improve the environment to promote solving social issues utilizing WIPO GREEN.
