JPO Held Meeting with ARIPO to Discuss Cooperation Projects in Africa

JPO's Mr. YASUDA Futoshi, Director-General, Patent and Design Examination Department (Physics, Optics, Social Infrastructure and Design) held a videoconference with Director General Twebaze of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO)* and others on October 22, 2021.

During the meeting, both the JPO and ARIPO discussed cooperation projects for the African regions, based on using the Funds-In-Trust Japan Industrial Property Global for IP, and human resource development training for developing countries targeting the African region.

Both director generals confirmed the importance of continuing cooperative projects between the ARIPO and JPO to develop the optimum framework for appropriately protecting and using intellectual property in the African region.
