JPO Concludes Presentation on Dealing with AI/IoT Technologies and PPH at Online Seminar of India

November 30, 2021

On November 26th, 2021, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) made a presentation at the 7th International Conference on IPR, which was hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) online. The theme of the presentation was “JPO’s Initiatives to Appropriately Protect Frontier Technologies Worldwide.”

In the presentation, JPO focused on two initiatives: (1) To appropriately protect innovations for frontier technologies, including making revisions to the JPO’s examination guidelines for inventions on computer software and creating the Manga Patent Examination Guidelines for AI/IoT technologies; and (2) the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) program to promote smooth acquisition of patent rights overseas.

Going forward, JPO is committed to promoting innovations by creating a framework wherein IP can be appropriately protected and effectively used in India.
