Video messages by Mr. YASUDA were broadcast at the opening sessions of the 46th session of the ARIPO (*1) Administrative Council held in Mozambique on November 21-25, and the 62nd session of the OAPI (*2) Administrative Council held in Cameroon on December 8, 2022.
These councils are a meeting where the heads of IP Offices of ARIPO member states meet together, and a meeting where the OAPI member states meet together, respectively to discuss the policies and plans of activities of each organization.
Mr. YASUDA said that it is important to improve the business environment through appropriate protection of intellectual property for the sustainable development of Africa, and that Japan, as a "partner that grows together" with Africa, will actively promote cooperation with Africa from the aspect of intellectual property.
The JPO will continue to promote cooperation with African IP Offices to create an environment in which intellectual property can be quickly and smoothly secured and appropriately protected in Africa.
