Exchange views with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government officials and others

On February 22, 2023, the JPO and the government officials and others from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) exchanged opinions on anti-counterfeiting measures.
As part of the initiative of the International Intellectual Property Protection Forum (IIPPF), the meeting was held at the JPO, inviting the government officials from the UAE, staff members of the Emirates Intellectual Property Association (EIPA), which is a governmental organization playing an important role in the enforcement of intellectual property rights in the UAE, and the Brand Owners Protection Group（BPG）, which is a private IP protection organization actively providing trainings and awareness-raising activities to enforcement authorities and others in the Middle East.
As well as paying a courtesy call on JPO Deputy Commissioner KATSURA, the UAE government officials actively exchanged opinions at a working-level meeting on anti-counterfeiting measures and awareness campaigns for consumers.
The JPO will continue to work with foreign governments to raise consumer awareness of counterfeit products in order to tackle international counterfeiting.

The International Intellectual Property Protection Forum (IIPPF): As a cooperation with private sector, the International Cooperation Division of the JPO has been supporting the activity of IIPPF, which is a forum of private companies and organizations motivated to solve the problems of intellectual property infringement by counterfeits and pirated copies. Through the dispatch of Japanese delegations to countries where counterfeit goods are manufactured and distributed, and the exchange of views with customs and other government authorities by invitation, the JPO has been focusing on building relationship to strengthen IP protection.
