JPO Holds Lecture on Strengthening Global Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Convention

The JPO and other intellectual property experts attended the Global Intellectual Property Convention organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on April 26, 2023.

During his opening speech, KATSURA Masanori, Deputy Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office, or JPO, introduced JPO initiatives such as accelerated examination for promoting innovation. He also stressed the importance of India-Japan bilateral cooperation in intellectual property in order to strengthen global intellectual property rights.
In line with the theme of strengthening global intellectual property rights (IPR), a JPO expert also gave a presentation on JPO initiatives including the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH), which facilitates smooth patent acquisition across borders; and on the training programs that the JPO’s international instructors provide for examiners in emerging countries.

By further advancing cooperative initiatives in the field of IP together with the Office of CGPDTM, the JPO will continue to work on establishing an IP framework in India going forward.
