Dr. Al Swailem, CEO of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), visited the Japan Patent Office (JPO) on November 16 for a bilateral heads of office meeting with Mr. HAMANO Koichi, JPO Commissioner.
The leaders of the two offices exchanged information on the latest IP policies and law amendments, confirmed the progress of cooperative projects based on the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) signed between the two offices in 2019, and confirmed that they will continue to promote mutual understanding and strengthen cooperative relations between the two offices.
On the following day, on November 17, at the "Seminar on Intellectual Property in Saudi Arabia" hosted by the SAIP in Tokyo, Commissioner Hamano delivered the opening remarks. In his remarks, Commissioner Hamano spoke on the cooperation between Japan and Saudi Arabia in the field of intellectual property.
The JPO will continue to strengthen its cooperative relationship with the SAIP in order to create an environment in which the intellectual property of Japanese companies may be appropriately protected in Saudi Arabia.
