JPO Holds Bilateral Meetings with the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) and Botswana Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA)

Mr. MOROOKA, Director-General of the Japan Patent Office (JPO)'s Patent Examination Department (Mechanical Technology), held bilateral meetings with the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO)¹ and Botswana's Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) in conjunction with the 19th Session of the ARIPO Council of Ministers² in Gaborone, Botswana.

During the bilateral meetings, the parties confirmed that they would continue to promote cooperation in the field of intellectual property through support utilizing the WIPO Funds-in-Trust Japan Industrial Property Global, which is a voluntary contribution made by the Japan Patent Office (JPO) to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), as well as through initiatives for developing human resources.

The JPO will continue to promote cooperation with African IP offices in order to create an environment wherein the intellectual properties may be swiftly and smoothly secured, as well as properly protected, throughout Africa.
