The Japan Patent Office (JPO) conducted an online trademark training program on January 31, 2024 for members of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, Government of Indonesia (DGIP), together with support from both JICA and JETRO Singapore.
The training program was led by a JPO expert in charge of quality management in the field of trademark examinations. A total of 49 trademark examiners attended from the DGIP.
During the program, the trainer shared with trainees his knowledge and experiences in the field of trademarks, including quality management practices and trademark examination operations in Japan. This was followed by the speaker from the DGIP, who introduced a new quality management system for trademark examinations that is presently being implemented in Indonesia. Afterwards, a lively question and answer session was held. The JPO received positive feedback from trainees, including the following comments: “I have a better understanding of quality management for trademark examinations in Japan,” and “The knowledge gained from this training is very useful for our efforts to improve the quality management system for trademark examination in Indonesia.”
The JPO will continue to offer support and cooperation in this area by conducting training programs for emerging countries such as Indonesia, thereby helping to improve and strengthen the environments for intellectual property within their countries.
