On February 22, Ms. Dana NORTHCOTT, President of the International Trademark Association* (INTA), visited the JPO and met with Mr. YAMASHITA, Director-General of the Trademark and Customer Relations Department, to exchange views on possible cooperation between the JPO and INTA. The proposed areas for collaboration include the upcoming INTA Annual Meeting, educational programs that the INTA is focusing on, and brand owner support in the online market.
In addition, JPO staff introduced the latest trademark policies in Japan, and information was also exchanged regarding anti-counterfeiting measures.
The JPO will continue to contribute to the promotion of appropriate protection and utilization of industrial property rights in Japan and abroad by exchanging views with various organizations in order to understand current issues and user needs.
