International Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property

On September 9, 2024, Mr. YASUDA Futoshi, Deputy Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO), attended the International Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property hosted as a videoconference by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), bringing together the IP offices of G7 member states* and European Patent Office (EPO).

During the meeting, the participating offices held a lively discussion covering AI-related topics such as the inventorship of AI-related inventions and patent subject matter eligibility for AI-related inventions.

* The Italian Patent and Trademark Office was unable to attend.
