The members of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA)* visited the Japan Patent Office (JPO) on April 9th and held a meeting with JPO Commissioner ONO Yota, wherein both parties exchanged views on recent topics of interest including AI technology in relation to the patent system, as well as trademark protection within virtual environments.
Working-level meetings were also held prior to this meeting in order to discuss issues and initiatives with regard to the patent and trademark systems in both the U.S. and Japan.
