On September 10, the “JAPAN GREEN TECH SHOWCASE” was held in Singapore. The event was co-hosted by the Japan Patent Office (JPO), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), with support from the Singapore government-linked organization, Innovation Partner for Impact Singapore (IPI Singapore). The event aimed to facilitate connections between Japanese startups specialized in green/climate technologies and local companies or investors in Southeast Asia.
Approximately 60 participants attended, including Japanese startups, local businesses, investors, and government agencies. The event featured a total of 30 one-on-one meetings, fostering active exchanges among participants. During the pitch sessions, the innovative green technologies of Japanese startups were effectively showcased.
The JPO also introduced WIPO GREEN, an initiative led by the WIPO and supported by the JPO, aimed at encouraging participants to utilize intellectual property. Two guest speakers were featured at the event: Mr. Alvin How from IPI Singapore, who spoke on “Bridging Business with Innovation: Japan-Singapore Collaborations,” and Mr. David Toh from Nanyang Technological University, who discussed “Deep Tech Commercialisation and Internationalisation.”
The JPO will continue to promote international cooperation to help companies utilize intellectual property globally and contribute to their business development.
