JPO Holds Heads Meeting with the
European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO)

Mr. João Negrão, Executive Director of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO)*, visited the Japan Patent Office (JPO) on Friday, September 12th to hold a meeting with the JPO Commissioner, Mr. KASAI Yasuyuki.

During the meeting, information was exchanged on the latest developments in both offices within the field of trademarks and designs. In addition, the commitment to further strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two offices was also confirmed.

The JPO will continue to cooperate with the EUIPO to make the trademark and the design systems of the two offices more accessible and user-friendly for all users.

• * The EUIPO is a regional intellectual property office. Its functions include granting rights to European Union trademarks and registered community designs within the European Union, as well as monitoring intellectual property infringements in the region.
