G7 Heads Hold IP Office Conversation

The G7 Heads of IP Office Conversation was held on Friday, December 12, 2025, via video conference. The meeting brought together officials who head the IP Offices in G7 member states, including Japan Patent Office Commissioner KASAI Yasuyuki.

Discussions were held here on topics including modernizing IP Offices for the digital economy, as well as empowering businesses to leverage IP for economic growth.

Mr. KASAI introduced the JPO's initiatives for the AI in the modernizing IP Offices for the digital economy to the G7 IP Offices.
Mr. KASAI also highlighted efforts to empower businesses to leverage IP for economic growth, including the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) and support for startups. He emphasized therein the importance of having an IP system that enables companies to create value through economic activities, as well as the significance of encouraging companies to utilize IP.
